What is teledentistry?

In essence, teledentistry is the provision of professional dental care services through remote and virtual consultations. In other words, using your smartphone or desktop to consult your doctor through a video-call. Telemedicine services such as teledentistry are becoming immensely popular and COVID-19 has only accelerated their adoption.  In view of social distancing requirements and recommendations to reduce movement outside of homes to contain the outbreak, government bodies have made telehealth services more accessible to the masses. These virtual services will still be in demand in the post COVID-19 world, where other benefits such as accessibility anchor its bright future ahead.

Benefits of teledentistry

Teledentistry makes many dental care services more accessible, comfortable, and safe.

Accessible: It increases accessibility and reach through the use of everyday telecommunication devices, such as smartphones. By using it for non-urgent dental care services, one can save some travelling time and cost by avoiding the hassle of queues and waitlists.

Comfort: Because you can now access these services from the comfort of your couch, you don’t have to go through the hassle of appointment-making to see the doctor for non-urgent dental care needs. Now, you don’t have an excuse to skip your annual teeth scaling!

Safety: The pandemic has forced entire populations to minimise contact with each other especially in enclosed spaces. Teledentistry offers an attractive benefit of not having to be physically present and thus safeguards our health.

The downsides of teledentistry

Unfortunately, teledentistry is unable to address urgent and complex cases. Face-to-face, in-person consultations are still necessary for the dentist to perform dental work. The technology can however still speed things up by diagnosing the patient first.

Bottom line: Teledentistry works best when overseen by trained and licensed dental experts.

Video orthodontic consultations are coming into their own

Zenyum offers HK licensed dental service to deliver patients a superior smile makeover experience by leveraging teledentistry. The partner clinics’ professional dentists together with Zenyum orthodontists will advise and tailor a treatment plan just for you

Many clinics offer video orthodontic consultation with a professional orthodontist for procedures such as clear aligners, veneers, braces and dental implants. And with Zenyum, it’s super easy to upload a few photos of your teeth and get your smile assessed for our clear aligner treatment without leaving your home.

What is Zenyum though?

Zenyum offers clear aligners, a transparent, plastic alternative to traditional metal braces used to adjust and align teeth. They are removable (unlike metal braces) and work by exerting consistent pressure on your teeth, so they shift and straighten over time.

Zenyum‘s clear aligners may be the ideal solution for you if you are looking for a teeth straightening treatment that is aesthetically pleasing and convenient. It’s also more affordable than many other aligner providers, making it a popular option amongst young adults seeking minor teeth adjustments.

How do Zenyum Invisible Braces work?

Simply send Zenyum photos of your teeth through the free smile assessment. You will be guided throughout the process. 3D intraoral scans will be handled professionally by our licensed dentists who will tailor the treatment plan to your needs.

Zenyum’s highly responsive and exceptional customer service will also guide and assist you through the entire treatment plan. Got a question? Just send it to us via the Zenyum app at any point during the treatment and the customer care will get back to you in a jiffy.

What happens once I know I am suitable for Zenyum Invisible Braces treatment?

We’ll make an appointment with the dentist for you to get a 3D intraoral scan, and a full mouth X-ray that will cost between $1,500. Once our dentists give the green light for your treatment, a 3D simulated smile and treatment plan will be sent to you for your approval.

Our team will also catch-up with you remotely with the help of teledentistry.

Progress images can be uploaded in the Zenyum app where you can monitor your progress throughout.

When do I start seeing results?

Ideally to be worn for 22 hours a day, Zenyum Invisible Braces produce noticeable results within 3 to 15 months of treatment varying with the complexity of the case.

As former braces wearers, we at Zenyum know the difference a smile transformation can make. A knock-your-socks-off smile is one of the most powerful tools we all have to spark positive change.

And we’re obsessed with making that transformation easy. Enjoyable. Heck, even a little fun.

Which is exactly why we continue to embrace innovations like teledentistry, that are rapidly becoming indispensable in modern, professional dental care.
